The Comment is Free section of the Guardian website is often an excellent read and usually provides for some most interesting discussion, not to mention rather heated and often hilarious debate (eventually often descending toward a Godwin’s Law type situation).
I came across this article (rant) today in the Trending section of the Guardian app and though it was worth sharing for what looks like a rather career limiting tirade, in which the author (an apparent feminist) attacks transexuals the world over for previous attacks on one of her friends on Twitter.
I especially liked the note at the top of the article that states the Editor is investigating the many complaints made, all of these since the release of the article in this morning’s Observer. Quite a good read and especially the ensuing comments below the article. The question I want to know is has the author shot herself in the foot? We shall see…

Pretty weird isn’t it. Despite all the bigoted ranting the thing that shocks me the most is that an editor thought that it may be something we all want to read about in a national newspaper.
Totally weird. After approving it is he now going to have to fall on his sword?
My immediate contempt begins at the thought of anybody talking about a lobster dinner and champagne to buff their own ego in an article. Guess what? I just had a donut; doesn’t mean I should write about it. Besides, lobster is over-rated.
And Bolly? I think she’s referring to Bollinger, which she probably first heard about in the lastest Bond and since most people think he’s the height of sophistication in the UK, she chose that.
This all makes her voice crystal clear in my head. Middle-aged, single, moaning, drinking too much Wolfblass/Jacob’s Creek alone in your one bedroom flat in some fringe part of London writing terrible rants between teary phone calls to mother.
As for her thing against transexuals, it reminds me of people asking for equality and deliberately denying others the same. It is true that transexuals don’t bleed, get PMT/PMS, or have menopause, but they sure as shit get more sexual harassment than you. And that’s not because they are transgendered, but because you’re just not fucking attractive in any way whatsoever.
Exactly why I stopped reading the Guardian.
